Restore Your John Deere with Tractor, Truck & Implement Enamel

Yesterday’s Tractors Help Keep the American Dream Alive for Tomorrow’s Farmers

Many of us gauge the arrival of spring by the greening of the grass in our lawns. The farmers among us, however, look for the appearance of a different, deeper shade of green to determine the true arrival of spring. To them, and many others who grew up on farms, the first sign of spring is the familiar green and yellow of a John Deere tractor, silhouetted against freshly plowed soil and a clear blue sky. That green can stay vibrant, even on an old tractor, using Majic Paints Tractor, Truck and Implement Enamel.

A Rich and Lasting History

While modern tractors are marvels of what technology can accomplish, the durable tractors of yesteryear were truly special machines. Taking a drive in the country will be all the proof you need to see that many of these simple but powerful machines are still in use today on small farms around the country.

Keeping the Dream Alive

It’s not just farmers who are drawn to these faithful old machines. In recent years, restoring antique tractors of all makes and models has become a popular and often profitable hobby. Whether you are interested in restoring grandfather’s tractor to hand down to future farmers in the family, or you just enjoy breathing life back into these old treasures, here is some helpful information to get you started.

Strip, Clean, Sand & Tape

Decades of exposure to the sun leaves vintage tractors looking faded and worn. Areas of rust may exist as well, particularly if there are any deep scratches. Start the process of restoration by stripping off any removable parts and then thoroughly cleaning all surfaces to remove the years of built-up dust, dirt and grime.

Stubborn or particularly greasy areas respond well to cleaning with paint thinner. Any existing rust can be removed with a wire brush and then sanded smooth. Once the tractor is clean and rust-free, carefully tape any areas that will not be painted.

Priming & Painting

Putting forth the effort to do all the preparation can seem time-consuming, but it will make a real difference in the overall success of the priming and painting applications.

Using a light-colored primer, carefully apply at least three coats. This will help even out the surface and help the paint adhere properly.

Now, it is time to restore the color to your machine. Using Majic Paint brand Tractor, Truck & Implement Enamel is the best way to match the original colors of any John Deere tractor, as well as any other makes and models.
