Touch-Up Paint for Your Trucks, Tractors and Implements

The demands on all-purpose trucks, tractors and implements show up over time when they get scratches and dings. If you repainted a piece of equipment after every 10 or 20 chips or scratches, you’d eat up all your profit in a year.

Still, ignoring scratches, dings and chips can make a piece of equipment with decades of life left in it look old and beat up. It not only doesn’t shine like new, but it is more likely to rust.

That’s why we supply touch-up paint.

Secrets to Applying Touch-Up Paint

When you’re applying touch-up paint, it’s important to remember that you’re applying tractor, truck or implement enamel. You’re not painting the barn! As such, the application procedure is a little different.

Rather than using a brush which will leave streaks and lines, use a sponge. A tight porous sponge with a firm edge is best.

Equally important is to use dabbing motions rather than wiping or brushing the touch-up paint across the exposed area of your truck or equipment.

Dab the paint on the area inside the chip, ding or scratch, and then use a rag or your handkerchief to wipe the excess paint off the paint surrounding the blemish. It is not necessary to put a great deal of paint on the first coat. Building up thin coats will prevent ugly drips.

Let the first coat of touch-up paint dry for long enough that it becomes tacky to the touch. Before it dries completely, dab on a second coat and clean off the excess around the area you’re touching-up.

Adding the second coat before the first completely dries will create a smooth finish on your touch-up job.
